Passengers onboard a British Airways flight from Singapore to London had the unfortunate experience of travelling for five hours, only to end up back where they started.

Flight BA 12 operated by an Airbus A380 had not long departed Singapore for London when it returned to airspace just south of Singapore where it spent around four hours circling before landing without incident at Changi Airport.

“We are sorry for the delay to customers’ travel plans after the aircraft returned to Singapore Changi Airport as a precaution following a minor technical fault. Our teams are working hard to get our customers where they need to be,” the airline told Traveltalk.

“Safety is our top priority and we would never operate a flight unless it was safe to do so. 

The flight landed safely and customers exited the aircraft as normal.”

The aircraft involved, G-XLED remains on the ground in Singapore.
