Queensland’s visitor economy reached $45.6 billion in the year ending June 2026, placing the state $1.4 billion ahead of projections set under Destination 2045.
International tourism continued to contribute strongly, with 2.4 million overseas visitors spending $8.1 billion across Queensland, an increase of 28.4% year on year.
International holiday expenditure reached a record $3.8 billion, with four of Queensland’s largest international source markets recording their highest-ever levels of spending.
Domestic travellers remained the biggest contributor to the visitor economy, generating $37.5 billion in expenditure, up 3.9% on the previous year.
Four Queensland regions also ranked among Australia’s top 15 domestic holiday tourism regions by overnight visitor expenditure, reinforcing the importance of regional destinations to the state’s overall tourism performance.
The latest Tourism Research Australia figures show Queensland continuing to track ahead of the long-term growth ambitions outlined in Destination 2045.
