Hundreds of travel advisors in Melbourne and Brisbane have been introduced to Japan’s Mitsui Ocean Cruises during Japan National Tourism Organisation roadshow events this week.

Cruise Traveller, the cruise line’s exclusive Australian representative, joined the events with Jeonghwan Nam, Mitsui Ocean Cruises Head of International Sales. The line was the only cruise operator featured at the Japan focused trade shows.

Joe O’Sullivan, Cruise Traveller Managing Director, and Laura Stone, Cruise Traveller BDM, joined Mr Nam at the Melbourne event to discuss the product with attending advisors.

Mitsui currently operates Mitsui Ocean Fuji and is preparing to launch Mitsui Ocean Sakura. Both vessels previously sailed for Seabourn.

Mr O’Sullivan said growing Australian interest in Japan was creating additional opportunities for advisors to sell the country by sea.

“As Japan’s own luxury cruise line, Mitsui offers Australian travel agents amazing opportunities, especially with the number of Australians now keen to visit Japan,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“It was great to see the very positive reaction from so many agents.”

The line combines small ship cruising with Japanese dining, destination experiences and traditional omotenashi hospitality, giving advisors another option for clients looking to explore Japan beyond a conventional land itinerary.
