Scenic Group has announced plans to add three new luxury river ships to its fleet, with vessels scheduled to enter service in Europe and Asia between 2027 and 2028.
The expansion includes one Emerald Cruises Star Ship and two Scenic Space Ships. The ships will operate on the Douro River in Portugal and the Mekong River in Southeast Asia.

The announcement comes as Scenic Group marks 40 years since the company was founded. Glen Moroney, Chairman and Founder of Scenic Group, said the additional vessels form part of the company’s ongoing fleet development.
Emerald Nova is scheduled to launch in June 2027 on the Douro River, joining Emerald Radiance. Scenic Aria will follow in September 2027 and will operate alongside Scenic Azure on Douro itineraries.
Scenic Spirit II is planned to launch in early 2028 on the Mekong River, where Scenic currently operates voyages through Vietnam and Cambodia.
The announcement follows previously confirmed ships including Emerald Astra, launching in May 2026 on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and Emerald Lumi, which will operate on France’s Seine River from 2027.
Founded in Australia in 1986, Scenic Group operates the Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours and Emerald Cruises brands, offering river, ocean and land journeys across more than 100 countries.
