Song Saa Private Island has long been a leader in regenerative luxury, pairing barefoot indulgence in Cambodia’s Koh Rong archipelago with marine conservation, local heritage and community support. Now the resort is evolving again with the launch of Saraan Sanctuaries, a new wellbeing concept that reimagines wellness as a place rooted journey guided by nature and Khmer wisdom.
Founder Melita Koulmandas says Saraan is not simply a new spa or refreshed treatment menu, but the next chapter in Song Saa’s people and place led philosophy. Wellbeing, she notes, has always been woven into the resort experience, shaped by the belief that personal restoration is inseparable from the health of nature and community.

A key part of the launch is Koh Bong, a previously untouched island accessed by footbridge, now becoming the setting for Song Saa’s most elemental offering. Experiences will also extend to tranquil spaces across the main island, Koh Ouen, creating what the resort describes as a sanctuary within a sanctuary.
Saraan, meaning love in Khmer, draws on the Buddhist concept of metta, or loving kindness towards self, collective and environment. Offerings include salt room sound therapy, herbal steam rituals, Shirodhara oil treatments, Vichy showers, Buddhist blessings and nature based movement, alongside curated journeys such as Digital Detox, Sacred Sleep and Couple Connection, delivered in jungle sanctuaries, overwater salas and open air pavilions.
A resident botanist anchors the concept with foraging walks, blending sessions and workshops focused on Cambodia’s indigenous plants, from lemongrass and turmeric to mangroves. Guests can learn how botanicals are transformed into teas, scrubs and tinctures, explore their place in Khmer cooking and create natural dyes for art making.
