Attending Parau Parau Tahiti 2026 was not just another industry event – it was an immersive experience that truly reinforced why French Polynesia remains one of the most unique and compelling destinations in the world.

As a long-standing wholesale partner in Australia and New Zealand, Tahiti Voyages has worked closely with Tahiti Tourism for many years.

However, being on the ground at Parau Parau, organised by Tahiti Tourisme headquarters, provided a completely different perspective – one that goes far beyond brochures and rate sheets.

The Parau Parau workshop itself was exceptionally well organised, bringing together key suppliers from across the islands in one central platform.

From luxury resorts and boutique hotels to cruise operators and destination management companies, the event allowed us to reconnect with existing partners and build new relationships.

What stood out most was the authenticity of each supplier – there is a genuine passion for sharing their culture, their islands and their stories.

For Tahiti Voyages, this face-to-face engagement is invaluable. It allows us to curate more meaningful and personalised experiences for our clients and travel agent partners.

Understanding the nuances of each product – from room categories to island logistics – ensures we continue to deliver with confidence and expertise.

Beyond the workshop, the famil experience was truly the highlight.

Raiatea & Taha’a – The Cultural Heart of Polynesia

Our journey began in Raiatea and Taha’a, often referred to as the cultural and spiritual heart of Polynesia.

Rich in history and heritage, Raiatea offers a depth that many travellers don’t initially expect from a tropical destination.

Visiting sacred sites and learning about Polynesian navigation traditions was both inspiring and grounding.

Just a short boat ride away, Taha’a felt like stepping into a postcard. Known as the “Vanilla Island,” it offers a more intimate and untouched experience.

The lagoon here is simply incredible – calm, vibrant and incredibly serene. For our clients seeking exclusivity and authenticity, this combination of Raiatea and Taha’a is something we are increasingly excited to promote.

Hiva Oa – The Soul of the Marquesas

Travelling to Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands was a completely different experience – raw, powerful and deeply emotional.

The Marquesas are unlike any other part of French Polynesia. There are no lagoons here – just dramatic cliffs, wild landscapes and a strong cultural identity that is felt everywhere you go.

Standing at the resting place of Paul Gauguin and exploring the island’s rich artistic heritage was a moment of reflection. It reminded me that Tahiti is not just about overwater bungalows…it is about stories, history and connection.

This is exactly why products like Aranui Cruises resonate so strongly with our clients. They offer access to places that are otherwise difficult to reach, while maintaining comfort and authenticity.

No journey to Tahiti would be complete without Bora Bora. Despite its global reputation, it continues to exceed expectations every time.

The lagoon, Mount Otemanu and the level of luxury offered by the resorts remain unmatched.

For Tahiti Voyages, Bora Bora continues to be a cornerstone of our luxury and honeymoon offerings, but what this trip reinforced is the importance of pairing it with more immersive island experiences to create a truly well-rounded itinerary.

Strengthening Partnerships & Looking Ahead

Parau Parau 2026 was not only about discovering the destination – it was about strengthening partnerships and aligning for the future.

As we prepare to launch our next campaign this April, these first hand experiences allow us to bring more depth, authenticity and confidence into every package we create.

At Tahiti Voyages, we pride ourselves on being more than just a wholesaler. We are specialists, storytellers and passionate advocates for French Polynesia.

And after experiencing Parau Parau through this lens, I can confidently say: the best of Tahiti is yet to come.
