Crooked Compass has announced its 2028 Founder’s Tour, a singular 18-day expedition through two of the Himalayas’ most restricted and spiritually significant regions, Upper Mustang in Nepal and the Tibetan Autonomous Region.

Personally hosted by Founder Lisa Pagotto, The Last High Kingdoms is a one-off departure that will not be repeated, designed for travellers who understand that true luxury lies in rarity and access.

Ms Pagotto said the journey was not designed for everyone.

“This is not a typical itinerary, and it is not designed for everyone. We do not enter journeys like this lightly. The past year has been about listening, refining and building the relationships that make access possible. What we have created is rare, and not something we can recreate on demand. That is exactly what makes it so powerful,” Ms Pagotto said.

The itinerary takes guests through Upper Mustang, a former forbidden kingdom where ancient Tibetan culture endures through private village encounters and spiritual ceremonies. From there the journey continues to Lhasa and Central Tibet, with carefully arranged access to the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Drepung Monastery alongside respected local scholars and spiritual custodians. Yamdrok Lake, Tsetang and remote eastern Tibet round out an itinerary built entirely around experiences that cannot be replicated.

Accommodation has been carefully selected throughout, from Dwarika’s Hotel in Kathmandu to the Bill Bensley-designed Shinta Mani Retreat in Mustang and the Songtsam luxury boutique lodges along the ancient Tea Horse Road in Tibet.

The 2028 Founder’s Tour departs February 2, 2028, priced from $44,738 per person. Early booking is essential.
