Travellers Choice is investing in the next generation of travel industry leaders with a new six-month training initiative aimed at helping experienced consultants take the next step in their careers.
The program, ProAdvance, is the latest addition to the company’s multi-level TC Pro training platform and has just welcomed its first group of a dozen travel professionals. According to Travellers Choice General Manager – Sales, Nicola Strudwick, the course is designed to provide “the skills and confidence” participants need to transition into management roles or even run their own agencies.
She explained that ProAdvance combines self-paced learning with monthly online masterclasses led by industry experts.
“Primarily, this program is about helping senior consultants move into leadership roles, which also supports our members with succession planning,” Strudwick said. “It’s not only about developing capabilities for today, but about shaping the leaders of tomorrow.”
When developing the curriculum, Travellers Choice sought input from some of its most successful members, asking which topics were most crucial for professional growth. The result, Strudwick said, was a strong focus on financial literacy and business acumen.
“People often look at a travel agency and think it’s easy to run, but the reality is far more complex,” she noted. “ProAdvance introduces consultants to essential commercial practices such as cash flow forecasting, P&L reporting, budgeting, and setting sales and marketing strategies.”
The course also explores people management skills, guiding participants through modules on conflict resolution, team building, and leadership communication. “We want participants to feel ready to step into management roles with confidence and capability,” Strudwick added.
ProAdvance complements ProStart, a three-month introductory program launched by Travellers Choice in 2025 for newcomers to the industry. Nearly 30 travel agents have completed ProStart, with Strudwick crediting it for helping new recruits become valuable team members faster while improving retention across the network.
