Luxury Travel Collection (LTC)’s recent Masters of Luxury Immersion revealed a side of the USA’s luxury West Coast corridor that extends far beyond its long-held reputation as a beach destination.

Five LTC members from Travel Associates, Chirn Park Travel and Bespoke Journeys spent eight days across Los Cabos and Palm Springs, pairing two distinct luxury destinations into a single West Coast itinerary for Australian travellers.

The California–Baja corridor is one of luxury travel’s most exciting emerging opportunities and the itinerary combined design-led hospitality, wellness, gastronomy, coastal luxury and cultural immersion in a single journey.

According to the Los Cabos Tourism Board, the destination closed 2025 with almost 3.8 million visitors and its luxury hotel market continues to outperform the rest of Mexico, with around 80 per cent of accommodation inventory in the luxury segment.

Yet for Australian travellers, Los Cabos remains comparatively undiscovered – an opportunity for advisors with genuine destination expertise to introduce clients to a richer, more sophisticated side of Baja.

“Some of the world’s most rewarding luxury destinations are those that reveal themselves gradually,” said Lisa Wright, Head of Events and Immersion Program at LTC.

“Los Cabos is a perfect example. Beneath its well-known reputation lies a sophisticated luxury destination, where every resort offers a different experience and every traveller can be matched to something genuinely personal.

“That’s why firsthand knowledge matters – our members return home able to recommend it with the confidence and authenticity today’s luxury travellers expect.”

Members experienced four distinctive luxury properties: Parker Palm Springs, ME Los Cabos, Marquis Los Cabos and Montage Los Cabos, each offering a different expression of contemporary luxury and reinforcing the importance of matching the right property to the right client.

But it was the experiences beyond the resorts that most challenged perceptions of the destination.

An excursion to Cabo Pulmo National Park revealed a quieter, more authentic side of Baja, while the artisan town of Todos Santos added cultural depth with its galleries, independent restaurants and boutique shopping.

A private sailing adventure during the annual Mobula Ray migration and a sound healing session overlooking the Sea of Cortez further showcased the breadth of luxury experiences beyond the traditional resort stay.

“One of the key learnings was that Los Cabos is far more diverse than many travellers realise,” said Tara Wheeler, travel advisor at Bespoke Journeys.

“While the luxury beach resorts are exceptional, some of the most memorable experiences came from exploring the smaller towns, local culture and landscapes beyond the resort corridor.”

Palm Springs provided the perfect complement, showcasing its celebrated mid-century architecture, acclaimed culinary scene and distinctive desert aesthetic.

Anchored by a stay at Parker Palm Springs, it reinforced its appeal for design-conscious travellers seeking luxury with personality, creativity and a strong sense of place.

The Masters of Luxury Immersion Program forms part of LTC’s ongoing investment in advisor education, ensuring members develop the first-hand knowledge, trusted relationships and destination expertise required to create exceptional luxury journeys for their clients.

Through immersive experiences such as these, LTC continues to strengthen the capability of its member network while uncovering emerging luxury destinations with significant potential for the Australian market.
