PONANT Explorations has opened sales for its 2028 Arctic program, with more than 35 departures scheduled between May and October across five distinct regions of the Far North.
Operating four vessels in the Arctic, the program spans the Geographic North Pole, Greenland and the Northwest Passage, Svalbard, Iceland and North America, offering one of the most extensive ranges of Arctic itineraries available.
The headline experience is the Geographic North Pole, with eight departures from June to September 2028 aboard Le Commandant Charcot, the world’s only luxury icebreaker capable of reaching 90°N, with return flights between Paris and Longyearbyen included. Highlights include sailing through the pack ice and along Svalbard’s fjords, an 18-night voyage combining the North Pole with two exclusive stops in northern Greenland, and polar activities including kayaking, snowshoeing and polar plunging.
In Greenland and the Northwest Passage, Le Commandant Charcot departs from May, the only cruise ship capable of navigating these regions so early in the season, visiting the Thule region and Disko Bay, home to the largest icebergs in the northern hemisphere, alongside encounters with Inuit communities.
Svalbard departures from June to July include a full circumnavigation in July, an itinerary not offered since 2021, with access to protected nature reserves and wildlife including polar bears, walruses and arctic foxes. Iceland sailings feature fully immersive itineraries visiting the unspoilt islands of Grimsey and Heimaey, with one included excursion per guest per day. North America departures from August to October visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites including L’Anse aux Meadows and Gros Morne National Park alongside stopovers at Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Montreal and Martha’s Vineyard.
For bookings made before August 31, 2026, PONANT’s Serenity Policy allows guests to modify or postpone their cruise free of charge to a departure within the same year or earlier.
