AAT Kings has marked the 10-year anniversary of Field of Light Uluṟu with an exclusive fireside conversation featuring the installation’s creator, British artist Bruce Munro.
Held this week at the company’s Sydney offices, the event brought together industry guests for a discussion led by AAT Kings Group CEO Ben Hall. The conversation reflected on the inspiration behind the internationally recognised installation and its ongoing impact on travellers visiting Uluṟu.

Munro shared the personal journey that led to the creation of Field of Light. After studying painting and sculpture in the United Kingdom, he spent eight years living in Australia working various jobs while believing a career in art was out of reach. A journey through Australia with his wife Serena ultimately changed that path.
During the trip, Munro visited Uluṟu, where the powerful desert landscape inspired the concept that would later become Field of Light.
The installation has since become one of Australia’s most celebrated immersive art experiences, attracting visitors from around the world to witness thousands of illuminated glass spheres glowing across the desert landscape.

Munro and Hall also discussed how travellers experience the installation through AAT Kings’ Field of Light Sunrise tour, which allows guests to witness the artwork as the first light of day appears over Uluṟu.
“The experience I had at Uluṟu was incredibly powerful. It made me feel connected to the world around me and part of something much bigger. Field of Light is an expression of the joy I felt in that place and a way of celebrating the beauty of nature,” Munro said.
Ben Hall added that the installation has become a must-see experience for visitors to the region.
“During its ten years, Bruce’s Field of Light installation has become a true bucket list experience for travellers visiting Uluṟu. We’re proud that AAT Kings has helped so many guests experience it at sunrise, a moment that captures the magic of the landscape and Bruce’s vision,” Hall said.
