The ongoing crisis in the Middle East has forced some cruise lines to cancel their sailing schedules and reposition ships.
Celestyal today confirmed the cancellation of all April departures as its ships wait to reposition to Athens.
The line’s fleet is currently positioned in the Arabian Gulf, with Celestyal Discovery in Dubai and Celestyal Journey (pictured above) in Doha.
All guests and non-operational crew have been disembarked, while both vessels remain fully operational. Their departure from the region will take place in accordance with safety guidance from the relevant authorities.
“Our priority remains the safety and confidence of our guests, crew and partners,” said Lee Haslett, chief commercial officer at Celestyal.
“While we know this will be disappointing, taking this decision now provides greater clarity and flexibility for those affected.”
“Our teams are working closely with guests and travel partners to support rebooking options and ensure a smooth transition and we remain focused on returning to service in the Mediterranean as soon as it is safe to do so.”
All impacted guests have been offered a full refund or a future cruise credit and will be supported by Celestyal’s teams, who will provide rebooking options and assistance.
MSC Cruises has also announced a revised deployment for the upcoming Northern Hemisphere Winter 2026/2027 season, strengthening its presence in the Caribbean with the introduction of MSC World Europa to the French Antilles.
Originally scheduled to sail in the Middle East from November to April 2027, MSC World Europa will now operate seven- and 14- night itineraries with embarkation in Fort‑de‑France (Martinique), Pointe‑à‑Pitre (Guadeloupe) and Bridgetown (Barbados).
Guests booked on MSC World Europa for Winter 2026-2027 and their travel partners are being contacted directly and provided with information regarding their options, including the possibility to move their booking to another sailing or request a full refund.
The ship will return to the Gulf region for the Winter 2027/2028 season calling Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas, Bahrain and Doha.
Explora Journeys has also confirmed that EXPLORA II will operate from November to March 2027 exclusively in the Mediterranean with the originally planned Middle East deployment no longer taking place.
All guests with reservations on updated Journeys, along with travel advisor partners, will be contacted directly, with dedicated support provided and appropriate options offered where applicable.
