Heavens Portfolio Australia have taken a select group of Australian travel advisors on an immersive famil through Sri Lanka.
In partnership with Sri Lanka In Style, the famil explored the destination’s remarkable mix of culture, wildlife, wellness and boutique luxury accommodation.
The itinerary carried the group from the buzz of Colombo and the ancient sites of the Cultural Triangle to the tea-covered hills of the highlands, the wildlife of Yala National Park and the coastal charm of Galle.
The journey began with a night at Uga River, a tranquil riverside retreat on the outskirts of Colombo and the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka’s blend of natural beauty and refined hospitality.
From Colombo the group travelled north to Anuradhapura, checking into Uga Ulagalla. From here they climbed the Sigiriya Rock and enjoyed a special 25-dish Sri Lankan dinner set among the rice paddy fields on property.
The trip continued towards Kandy, with stops at the Dambulla Cave Temple, an organic spice garden and a cooking demonstration along the way.
In Kandy, the group stayed at Adigars Manor for a night, soaking in the cultural heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country before heading deeper into the highlands.
It was then up into the hills to Hatton, in the heart of tea country. Perched 1,444 metres above sea level, Uga Halloowella is a meticulously restored colonial-era bungalow that seamlessly blends historical charm with modern luxury.
Here the group was led through an immersive Ceylon tea experience, including a visit to a local factory.
The group travelled onward by seaplane to Uga Chena Huts at Yala National Park, where the advisors enjoyed game drives, spotting elephants, monkeys and sloth bears. One elephant even wandered past during sundowner cocktails back on property.
The trip finished in Galle, with a stop at Amanwella en route. In Galle, the advisors explored the historic Dutch Fort and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the southern coast.
