Australia’s most famous overnight paddlesteamer is waiving solo supplements and offering a $400 per person saving to solo travellers on three-night cruises departing before August 31.

Craig Burgess, Murray River Paddlesteamers Director, said the rise in solo travellers aboard PS Emmylou had been significant, with guests finding the boutique riverboat ideal for time away on their own.

“Our enchanting little riverboat, Emmylou, only carries 16 guests in all-inclusive comfort so it’s perfect for solo travellers seeking precious time away on their own. But what we find is most solo travellers also enjoy the company of other like-minded guests onboard. They might be lone travellers but they’re never lonely on Emmylou where everyone becomes friends on the river,” Mr Burgess said.

Solo fares now start from $1,700 per person, the same per-person price as couples, and include all onboard meals, daily shore excursions, selected beers and wines with dinner, coach transfers during the cruise and either complimentary return train trips between Melbourne and Echuca or free undercover car parking in Echuca.

Powered by an authentic 1906 steam engine and famed as the star of the 1980s mini-series All the Rivers Run, PS Emmylou sails three-night journeys every Saturday, returning Tuesday.

Leisurely days include guided trips to wineries, historic homesteads, indigenous heritage sites and wildlife sanctuaries, with a campfire dinner on the riverbank under the stars on one night of each sailing.
