IHG Hotels and Resorts has opened Holiday Inn Townsville, bringing the brand’s globally recognised hospitality to one of Queensland’s most exciting regional destinations.
Matt Tripolone, IHG Hotels and Resorts Managing Director Australasia and Pacific, said Townsville was an increasingly important regional market.
“As one of the world’s most iconic hotel brands approaches its 75th anniversary, it is a privilege to continue opening the doors of Holiday Inn in new destinations. Townsville is an exciting and increasingly important regional market and we look forward to welcoming travellers to experience the brand’s warm, dependable hospitality,” Mr Tripolone said.

The 93-room hotel features spacious two-bedroom family suites, meeting and event facilities and Bistro Sol restaurant serving fresh local flavours for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Kids aged 12 and under stay and eat free, making it a strong option for travelling families.
Guests can spend days exploring Magnetic Island, the Great Barrier Reef, the Southern Hemisphere’s only underwater art museum MOUA and the Castle Hill lookout, with waterfront dining on The Strand, Tan Lines Distillery and Townsville Brewing Co. also within easy reach.
Jerry Xu, La Vie Hotels and Resorts CEO, said North Queensland was well positioned for sustained growth ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
