A partnership supporting food relief and education across the Northern Territory has delivered more than 27,000 meals to remote communities during its first year.
PONANT EXPLORATIONS began working with OzHarvest in March 2025, with the collaboration providing the equivalent of 13,626 kilograms of food and reaching more than 1,000 students through food waste education.
Support has included weekly pop-up markets in Jabiru supplying fresh fruit and vegetables to local families, along with charter flights carrying produce to the Marlkawo Homeland in West Arnhem Land when access becomes difficult during the wet season.
The partnership has also funded OzHarvest’s FEAST program in 12 Northern Territory schools, reaching 1,040 students and training 17 teachers to deliver lessons focused on food waste and sustainability.
Ronni Kahn AO, OzHarvest Founder and Visionary in Residence, said the program was combining immediate food support with longer-term education.
“PONANT EXPLORATIONS’ support in the Northern Territory is helping put good food on plates today while giving young people the tools to create a better tomorrow,” Ms Kahn said.
The collaboration has extended to staff volunteering, with 49 PONANT EXPLORATIONS employees and partners taking part in OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause program and preparing 392 meals for people in need at the organisation’s Waterloo market in Sydney.
Deb Corbett, PONANT EXPLORATIONS CEO Asia Pacific, also participated in the OzHarvest CEO CookOff in October 2025, raising enough funds to provide a further 10,768 meals.
