Travellers wanting to experience Sri Lanka at a slower pace can now explore the country’s tea-growing highlands on a new six-night walking holiday through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Central Highlands.

Offered by Ceylon Tea Trails, the itinerary is designed around three full-day guided walks or bike rides led by the property’s naturalists, taking guests through working tea estates, mountain forests, ridgelines, streams and waterfalls.

Routes are tailored to guests and can also include walks between the brand’s historic planter bungalows.

The fully inclusive package is priced from $US7,799 for two and includes six nights in a Garden Suite, split across two Tea Trails bungalows with three nights in each. Guests also have access to additional self-guided bungalow trails.

Alongside the guided experiences, the package includes a complimentary foot massage after each walk, a private BBQ picnic lunch in the tea fields and a choice of a private tea tasting with the Planter in Residence, a Planter’s Lunch at a remote watch hut or a Sri Lankan cookery class.

The experience offers a deeper look at Sri Lanka’s tea country, combining the region’s landscapes and birdlife with its tea heritage, local communities and conservation stories.
