The project involves an investment of more than $US60 million and will enable the outfitting of more than 60 long-haul aircraft between 2026 and 2028.
The service is already available on one aircraft as of this month, with the remainder to be incorporated progressively.
“At LATAM, we believe flying is not just about connecting destinations, but also about enabling people to stay connected to what matters most,” said Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Airlines Group.
“This milestone marks a new step in how we continue to elevate the travel experience, bringing connectivity to long-haul flights so our passengers can enjoy a journey that feels closer, more human and aligned with today’s expectations.”
With this initiative, LATAM becomes the first South American airline to offer Wi-Fi on flights operated with this type of aircraft.
Connectivity will now be available on aircraft operating longer routes such as Santiago–Sydney, Santiago–New York, Lima–Madrid and São Paulo–London, as well as select regional segments also served by wide-body aircraft.
The onboard internet service complements the aircraft’s entertainment platform, LATAM Play, through which passengers can enjoy more than 300 movies, more than 1,000 TV series episodes and more than 800 music albums.
LATAM has also been implementing full cabin refurbishments in its long-haul fleet and the introduction of new business class suites designed to offer greater privacy and comfort.
