A new luxury bathhouse destination is opening in the Hawkesbury Valley in New South Wales on September 1.

The property is filling a gap in the NSW wellness market with a complete contrast therapy circuit, float therapy, spa treatments, wellness dining and resort accommodation under one roof.

AURA Spa and Bathhouse opens at Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley, set on eight hectares of gardens with views to the Blue Mountains, just 60 minutes from Sydney CBD.

Stephen Wills, Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley General Manager, said the flexibility of the offering was very deliberate.

“You can be here in 60 minutes, spend a few hours in the bathhouse, have a good meal and be home before dinner. Or stay the night and make a proper break of it. Rest and recovery should be within reach, not just reserved for special occasions,” Mr Wills said.

The bathhouse circuit includes mineral pools, an outdoor cold plunge and barrel sauna, a traditional cedar sauna, steam room and a fire and ice room featuring infrared sauna and contrast therapy, alongside indoor and outdoor relaxation zones.

A dedicated float room features two inbuilt float pools beneath a ceiling of stars for complete stillness.

AURA is the transformation of Villa Thalgo, a spa beloved by the Hawkesbury community for more than 25 years, which was devastated by floods twice between 2020 and 2023. What began as a refurbishment became a complete reimagining.

“We could have rebuilt what was here before. Instead, we asked what this place could truly become, and AURA is the answer,” Mr Wills said.

Bookings open in August with a limited number of Foundation Memberships to be made available soon.
