Tourism Central Australia (TCA) has launched the Red Centre Drive Vouchers, a new initiative designed to help more Australians get on the road, travel to and through Central Australia and spend longer exploring the Red Centre.
The campaign will make 600 vouchers worth $500 each available to eligible interstate visitors, with vouchers redeemable towards eligible accommodation at participating caravan parks, campgrounds, wayside inns and roadhouses across the Red Centre.
For travellers, the $500 could cover up to 10 nights at a powered caravan site, several nights in a cabin or even accommodation across an entire eight-night Red Centre road trip.
All Aussies need to do is apply online from now until September 30 via www.discovercentralaustralia.com/drive-vouchers, with vouchers allocated on a first come, first served basis and eligible travel available from October 5 through to June 30, 2027.
Daniel Rochford, Tourism Central Australia CEO, said the initiative was about helping turn the great Australian road trip into a Red Centre holiday, while spreading the benefits of visitation through communities and businesses across the region.
“The great Australian road trip is part of the way people have always experienced Central Australia, but we know the cost of getting here can be a barrier. These vouchers are about giving Australians that extra push to get on the road, take their time and experience the Red Centre properly,” Mr Rochford said.
“The journey is every bit as important as the destination. We want visitors stopping at our roadhouses, staying in our caravan parks, campgrounds and wayside inns, spending in regional communities and discovering places they may otherwise have driven straight past.
“This isn’t about rushing to one icon and heading home. It’s about slowing down, staying longer and experiencing the extraordinary communities, landscapes and experiences that make a Red Centre road trip unlike anywhere else in Australia.”
The campaign is funded by the Australian Government through the $5 million Red Centre Marketing Boost provided to Tourism Central Australia to attract more domestic and international visitors and increase visitor spending in the region.
The Red Centre Marketing Boost forms part of an $8.5 million Australian Government investment in the Red Centre, alongside the $1 million Alice Springs Revival and Resilience grant program and $2.5 million delivered to 17 local tourism businesses through the Red Centre Tourism Development Fund.
Applications now open at discovercentralaustralia.com/drive-vouchers and close September 30.
