Accor has been recognised with the title of ’World’s Leading Climate Action Initiative’ by voters at the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards.
The prize was revealed in front of hundreds of global leaders in sustainable tourism gathered in Dubai for the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards 2025.
The VIP ceremony recognised the individuals and organisations that are accelerating change in net positive tourism.
Launched in 2024, Accor’s ‘Achieving Net Zero Together’ program tackles a key challenge in corporate climate action: how to reduce supply chain emissions in a context of low supplier maturity and limited carbon data availability.
Structured around three pillars – measure carbon maturity of suppliers, reduce emissions of supply chain, promote low-carbon suppliers and offers – Accor proactively developed in-house tools and frameworks to support buyers and suppliers in designing practical, tailored decarbonisation roadmaps.
“Our approach stands out by prioritising action over reporting and by facilitating direct one-on-one engagement between Accor category managers and suppliers,” said Caroline Tissot, Group Chief Procurement Officer Accor.
“Receiving this recognition in the program’s first year reflects the collective effort of our procurement teams and suppliers to advance together.”
Committed to halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and achieving net-zero by 2050, Accor integrates sustainability into every facet of operations.
The group has phased out single-use plastics in guest experiences, implemented food waste tracking across 100 per cent of its properties and prioritised local sourcing and biodiversity protection through its Planet 21 and Net Positive Hospitality programs.
The awards program is run in partnership with the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, whose partners and members represent more than 66,000 hotels, eight million rooms globally, 300 brands and more than 100 supply chain and strategic partners.
“This achievement reflects an outstanding commitment to innovation, collaboration and leadership in sustainable hospitality,” said Glenn Mandziuk, President & Chief Executive Officer, World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance.
“At the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, we are proud to recognise organisations that are not only redefining excellence in guest experience but also demonstrating that responsible business practices and sustainability are essential to the future of our industry – a Net Positive Hospitality future.”
