An innovative travel program designed to protect and regenerate landscapes, wildlife and communities has just been launched, entitled Tomorrow Beckons.
The initiative is from Beckons, the curated portfolio of luxury lodges across Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Canada.
Michael Crawford, Beckons CEO, said the program was a celebration of these destinations and the people and wildlife who call them home.
“It allows our guests, teams and partners to contribute directly to positive change, ensuring these places remain as wild, vibrant and welcoming for the travellers of tomorrow as they are today,” Mr Crawford said.
Each lodge partners with a dedicated local organisation. At Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, the program supports the Australian Sea Lion Recovery Foundation’s Pup Shelters Project at Seal Bay, installing purpose-built shelters that provide vulnerable sea lion pups with refuge during their first months of life.
Robyn Bautovich, Southern Ocean Lodge General Manager, said guests were already fascinated by Kangaroo Island’s sea lions.
“Through Tomorrow Beckons, every stay supports conservation and research, helping give these little pups the best possible start to life,” Ms Bautovich said.
The program is powered by a voluntary one per cent guest contribution on the total stay value, alongside biannual online auctions and raffles.
To celebrate the launch, Beckons will activate a global fundraising auction on July 29 offering three-night stays across its portfolio.
At Tierra Atacama in Chile’s Atacama Desert, Tomorrow Beckons funds an agricultural technical school for Atacameño students.
At Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge on Vancouver Island, the program supports the Redd Fish Restoration Society’s work restoring river habitats and protecting wild salmon.
