Thailand has reinforced its standing as one of the world’s leading tourism and business events destinations after welcoming 2,300 travel professionals to Bangkok for Flight Centre Travel Group’s Global Gathering 2026.

Held from 10 to 12 July, the annual event brought together high performing travel advisors, executives, support teams and business leaders from Flight Centre’s international network.
For the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), hosting the gathering offered more than an opportunity to demonstrate Bangkok’s capacity for large scale meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. It placed Thailand’s tourism operators and experiences directly in front of the people who influence travel decisions in markets around the world.
Bangkok’s international air connections, accommodation, event infrastructure and extensive tourism network provided the foundation for the gathering, while a program of cultural and industry experiences showed delegates what Thailand can offer beyond the conference room.
From the moment participants registered at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park and Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, they were introduced to elements of Thai culture through a Thai dance machine, traditional Thai massage and a themed photobooth.
Business connections took centre stage at a supplier showcase at Baan Dusit Thani, where more than 500 Flight Centre executives, global partners and Thai tourism operators gathered for networking and product presentations.
Participating organisations included the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association, Take Me Tour, Krabi Hotel Association, the Thai Hotels Association Southern Chapter, Rajadamnern Stadium, Phuket Tourist Association, TAT Head Office and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services.
Together, the suppliers demonstrated the depth of Thailand’s tourism offering, from wellness and accommodation to community based experiences, adventure travel and regional destinations.
Thai culture was also brought to life during an experience at Bangkok’s Rajadamnern Stadium, where Flight Centre executives were introduced to Muay Thai and its place in the country’s cultural identity. The experience highlighted Thailand’s ability to combine professional event delivery with meaningful encounters that give international visitors a stronger connection to the destination.

Responsible tourism was another important part of the program. Participants were offered a complimentary walking experience supporting elephant wellbeing, with donations directed in full to the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang.
The initiative reflected Thailand’s broader commitment to tourism that delivers benefits beyond visitor numbers, including support for animal wellbeing, local communities and the long term sustainability of the country’s natural and cultural assets.
While the gathering strengthened relationships between Thailand and the global travel trade, its greatest value may emerge after delegates return to their home markets.
Travel advisors who have experienced Thailand firsthand are better equipped to explain its appeal, match clients with suitable experiences and recommend places beyond those already familiar to many international visitors.
To build on that opportunity, Global Gathering participants were encouraged to extend their time in Thailand through post-event tours across different regions of the country.
These journeys were designed to introduce advisors to another side of Thailand and help them look beyond its traditional tourism hotspots. This is particularly important when advising repeat visitors, who may already know Bangkok, Phuket or other established destinations but are ready to explore lesser known regions and experiences.
By giving advisors firsthand knowledge of a wider range of destinations, Thailand hopes they will return home inspired to create more varied itineraries for their clients. Encouraging visitors to travel more widely can distribute tourism income across different regions, reduce pressure on established destinations and create opportunities for local businesses and communities.
This approach supports Thailand’s transition towards high value, experience driven tourism, with success measured not simply by the number of arrivals but by the quality of each visit and the benefits tourism creates.
Flight Centre Global Gathering 2026 gave Thailand a valuable platform to demonstrate that strategy to an influential international audience. It also showed why the country continues to perform strongly as both a leisure destination and a host for major global business events: professional capability matched with hospitality, cultural identity and experiences travel advisors can confidently share with their clients.
