Following the sad passing of Bruce Baird, Neil Scales has stepped into the role of Chair of the Tourism & Transport Forum for the duration of the FY27.

A long-time member of the TTF Board and previously TTF’s Deputy Chair, Mr Scales brings more than 40 years of experience across tourism and transport in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Mr Scales is one of Australia’s most experienced transport leaders.

As the former Director General of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads for more than a decade, he led the delivery of major projects including the Gold Coast Light Rail and upgrades to the Bruce Highway and M1 and headed the transport taskforce for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Mr Scales now advises government, private industry and the not-for-profit sector on strategy, transformational change and technical issues.

“Bruce’s passing has been a profound loss for all of us at TTF and for the wider tourism and transport community,” Mr Scales said.

“His leadership shaped this organisation and left a lasting mark on the industry he championed for so many years.

“He was a mentor and a friend, having worked closely with Bruce as Deputy Chair, it’s an honour to take on the role of Chair. I’m committed to building on the strong foundations he laid and keeping TTF a strong, united voice for tourism and transport in
