Two new luxury ships have reached major construction milestones as Explora Journeys continues towards completing its six-ship fleet by 2028.

EXPLORA V has staged its float out in an Italian shipyard while EXPLORA VI marked its coin ceremony, a maritime tradition symbolising good fortune during construction and future service.

Following the delivery of EXPLORA III in July, EXPLORA IV is due to enter service in 2027, followed by EXPLORA V later the same year. EXPLORA VI is expected to join the fleet in 2028, completing the initial six-ship program.

Anna Nash, Explora Journeys President, served as one of the godmothers for the EXPLORA VI coin ceremony and said the occasion marked an important point in the brand’s development.

“EXPLORA VI marks an important milestone in our journey and represents how far we have come in bringing a new category of ultra-elegant ocean travel to life,” Ms Nash said.

The newer ships will also incorporate updated marine technology. EXPLORA V and EXPLORA VI will be LNG powered and designed to use renewable and next-generation fuels, while EXPLORA VI will also feature fuel cell technology.

All ships in the fleet are equipped for shore power connectivity, allowing them to connect to local electricity grids while in port and switch off their engines.
