HX Expeditions has finalised its 2026 Alaska program, introducing two new itineraries and inaugural calls in Klawock and Valdez.

The expanded program is designed to offer deeper access to Alaska’s remote landscapes and coastal communities, with new shore experiences developed in collaboration with local partners.

New itineraries focus on immersive exploration

The nine-night ‘Alaska’s Inside Passage Fjords of the Great Land’ voyage offers a shorter but immersive journey through Southeast Alaska, with wildlife encounters and exploration by small expedition boats.

The 12-night ‘Alaska’s Inside Passage Where the Mountains Meet the Sea’ itinerary delivers a more extensive experience, travelling through Prince William Sound, the Gulf of Alaska and down through British Columbia, combining glacier cruising, cultural encounters and forest exploration.

All sailings will operate aboard MS Roald Amundsen, the world’s first hybrid battery powered expedition cruise ship, supporting quieter navigation and reduced emissions.

HX will also introduce Klawock and Valdez as new ports of call, alongside 11 new shore excursions.

Located on Prince of Wales Island, Klawock offers insight into Łingít culture and local ecosystems, with experiences ranging from cultural encounters and food tastings to forest walks and wildlife tours.

Set among the Chugach Mountains, Valdez provides a mix of alpine landscapes and historical context, with activities including glacier kayaking, hiking and guided cultural tours.

Sam Imes, Alaska Product Planner, HX Expeditions, said the new program reflects a different approach to exploring the region.

“While most Alaska cruises focus on the coastline, HX goes deeper by working directly with communities and accessing rarely visited regions,” he said.

The 2026 season continues HX’s emphasis on responsible travel, combining small ship exploration with locally led experiences and environmental awareness.

With growing demand for expedition style cruising, the expanded Alaska program highlights a shift toward more immersive, community focused travel in one of the world’s most sought after destinations.
