Azamara Journey will undergo a two-week dry dock as part of a fleetwide refurbishment program introducing updated dining, entertainment, wellness and accommodation spaces.
Upgrades will include a redesigned Discoveries Restaurant, dedicated Chef’s Table experience, new Atlas Bar offering and transformed Cabaret Lounge.
The refurbishment will take place in November 2028 and will also include a complete refresh of Sanctum Spa, updates to staterooms and suites and enhancements to public areas throughout the ship.
The Penthouse Deck previously announced for Azamara Quest will remain exclusive to that vessel and will not be added to Azamara Journey.

Dondra Ritzenthaler, Azamara Cruises CEO, said the renovations were intended to update the onboard experience while retaining the atmosphere of the line’s small ships.
“Azamara Forward allows us to thoughtfully refresh our ships, creating inviting spaces for guests to connect, enjoy exceptional dining and entertainment, and feel at home between the incredible destinations they discover with us,” Ms Ritzenthaler said.
Following the dry dock, Azamara Journey will return to service on November 30, 2028, with a 12-night roundtrip voyage from Athens exploring Greece and Egypt.
The Azamara Forward program begins with Azamara Quest, which is scheduled to complete its refurbishment this November before returning to service on December 18. Azamara Onward is due to receive its upgrades in 2027.
