Hotel stays across Australasia will help fund food relief as IHG Hotels & Resorts brings back its annual Stay for Good campaign in support of OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest.

From September 1 to 30, $1 from every room night stayed on new and existing direct bookings at 59 participating hotels will be donated to the two food rescue organisations.

Each dollar can provide two meals while helping divert around one kilogram of food waste from landfill.

The campaign returns after IHG and OzHarvest passed the milestone of one million meals provided to people in need in Australia earlier this year.

Their partnership began in 2018, while IHG has worked with KiwiHarvest in New Zealand since 2023.

The initiative comes as demand for food support continues to rise. OzHarvest’s 2026 Frontline Report found more than 350,000 people are seeking food relief each month across the charities surveyed, with more than 74,000 being turned away because insufficient food is available.

The report also found 70% of frontline charities had experienced increased demand over the previous year, while 36% of people seeking assistance were doing so for the first time.

Matt Tripolone, IHG Hotels & Resorts Managing Director Australasia & Pacific, said the September campaign would build on the work already undertaken with both organisations.

“Surpassing one million meals with OzHarvest this year was an important milestone for our partnership and a testament to what our hotels, colleagues and guests can achieve together,” Mr Tripolone said.

“With demand for food relief continuing to grow, we’re proud to once again support the vital work of OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest throughout September.”

Ronni Kahn, OzHarvest Founder and Visionary-in-Residence, said increasing demand made continued support particularly important.

“Our recent Frontline report showed the need for food relief in Australia is continuing to rise,” Ms Kahn said. “At a time when more people are accessing food relief for the first time, the support of IHG is essential.”

IHG’s wider relationship with OzHarvest also includes food rescue, fundraising, staff volunteering and support for the Nourish program, which provides hospitality training and employment pathways for young people facing barriers to education and work.
