Intrepid Travel has added Greece and New Zealand to its Intrepid Guide collection.

Drawing on decades of experience leading small group adventures around the world, the guidebooks reflect Intrepid’s experience-rich, locally-led approach to travel.

Each one encourages readers to learn something new and connect with the people and places they visit.

Following the 2024 launch of the company’s inaugural book, The Intrepid List, the guides continue the company’s ambition to use storytelling to inspire positive change through travel.

Unlike traditional guidebooks, the Intrepid Guides are experience-led rather than destination focused.

From enjoying a home-cooked meal at a remote refuge in the Greek mountains, to riding a historic railway through native forest on New Zealand’s North Island, each guide highlights places, activities and experiences that promise life-long memories, while emphasising the importance of responsible travel.

“Each guide is designed for the intrepid traveller, someone who values authentic encounters, seeks out local perspectives and wants to go beyond the standard tourist trail,” said Natalie Placko, Global Brand Director at Intrepid Travel.

“These books celebrate the moments that make travel truly memorable and inspires travellers to explore some of the world’s most popular destinations with curiosity and consideration.”

The Intrepid Guides follow a thematic format, featuring chapters on: Nature, Wildlife, Activities & Sports, Festivals & Events, Food & Drink, History, Architecture, Art & Culture, Slow Travel and Responsible Travel.

With more than 35 years of experience in taking travellers around the globe and trips in more than 100 countries, the company plans to continue to expand its range, which now features guidebooks for Greece, New Zealand, Italy, Vietnam, Japan, Iceland and Australia.

The Intrepid Guide series is available to purchase online ($39.99) and in leading bookstores. Additionally, 2% of all sales will be donated to The Intrepid Foundation partners from the featured destinations, including Amurtel in Greece and Forest & Bird in New Zealand.

Intrepid runs 26 trips in Greece and 28 trips in New Zealand. Led by a local guides and travelling in small groups, these adventures feature immersive, locally-led experiences designed to connect travellers with the people and places they visit, while supporting local businesses through tourism.
