Velocity Frequent Flyer has launched a series of credit card offers allowing eligible new cardholders to earn up to 100 Status Credits, alongside bonus Velocity Points.

The Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card offer includes up to 100 Status Credits and 100,000 bonus Velocity Points for members who meet the required spending criteria.

The American Express Velocity Platinum Card also offers up to 100 Status Credits with 50,000 bonus Velocity Points, while the Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card offers up to 50 Status Credits.

Andrew Cleary, Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO, said the offers were designed to give members more ways to build their Status Credit balance without relying solely on flying.

“Most people think they have to spend a lot of time on planes to earn airline Status, but there are plenty of ways Velocity members can give their balance a boost on the ground,” Mr Cleary said.

Members can also earn Status Credits through everyday spending. Those who link their Velocity membership with a Flybuys household account can earn up to 120 Status Credits per year on eligible purchases at Coles, Coles Online and Liquorland.

Velocity’s Family Pooling feature provides another option, allowing eligible family members living at the same address to direct newly earned Points, or Points and Status Credits, into one member’s account.

Status Credits earned through credit cards and other partners can contribute towards membership tiers, although members must continue to meet Velocity’s applicable flying and Status requirements to upgrade or maintain their membership level.
