Cyclists will be able to cover more than 650 kilometres of the Danube Cycle Path while travelling by river cruise under a new program combining supported rides with overnight accommodation aboard ship.
Three Riverside Active cycling departures will operate aboard Riverside Mozart, beginning with a seven-night journey from Passau to Vienna from July 22 to 29, 2027, followed by Vienna to Budapest from July 29 to August 5. The two can also be combined into a 14-night Passau to Budapest itinerary.
Daily cycling routes range from 29 to 100 kilometres and follow sections of the Danube Cycle Path through destinations including the Wachau Valley, the Schlögen Loop and the Danube Bend towards Visegrád.
Guests can borrow an e-bike from the ship or bring their own, with onboard bicycle storage available. Each ride will be accompanied by an expert cycling guide and support vehicle.
The format is designed to give travellers flexibility over how much they ride. Guests can skip a cycling day and remain aboard Riverside Mozart, join an alternative excursion or use the support vehicle if they decide not to complete a route.
The approach also allows couples or friends with different activity preferences to travel together, with one guest cycling during the day while another explores independently or remains aboard.
Between rides, guests have access to the ship’s spa, pool, Jacuzzi, saunas, steam rooms and fitness centre, alongside its suite accommodation and dining options.
The full 14-night itinerary also includes an after hours visit to Vienna’s Belvedere Palace, featuring a private musical performance and access to Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss outside normal visiting hours.
Prices for the seven-night cycling cruises start from $7,639 per person, while the combined 14-night itinerary starts from $15,279 per person.
