The Solomon Islands recorded its strongest July international visitor result since 2012, continuing a period of growth for the destination during 2026.

Figures from the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office show 2,941 international visitors arrived in July, up 25.9% from 2,335 in the same month last year. The result also exceeded the previous July record of 2,865 arrivals set in 2012.

Total international arrivals for the first seven months of the year reached 16,388, representing a 12.03% increase on the 14,628 visitors recorded during the same period in 2025.

Australia remained the destination’s largest source market, contributing 4,795 visitors between January and July, up 8.06% year on year and accounting for 29% of total arrivals. New Zealand recorded 960 visitors during the period, an increase of 3.55%.

Papua New Guinea and China also recorded growth, while the US and the broader ‘Other Pacific Countries’ category were the only two top 10 source markets to decline.

Andrew Nihopara, Tourism Solomons CEO, said the results showed continued progress in rebuilding international visitation.

“Our focus remains fixed on rebuilding and growing arrivals from our key source markets, and the overall result, off the back of this strong regional market performance, shows clear progress toward returning to, and hopefully exceeding, pre-COVID levels,” Mr Nihopara said.

The Solomon Islands welcomed 28,548 international visitors in 2025, its strongest post-pandemic result and 382 arrivals short of the record 28,930 visitors recorded in 2019.
