Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled its pick of 2026’s hottest cruise destinations across Asia and Europe, with port intensive itineraries designed for travellers chasing intentional, stress free escapes on boutique style ships.
Intentional Cruising For 2026
Speaking in Sydney, Ben Angell, Norwegian Cruise Line vice president and managing director APAC, highlighted a clear shift toward immersive itineraries that swap sea days for long days in port and culturally rich city stays.
With sailings now on sale across Europe and Asia, there is still time for Australian travellers to lock in an easy 2026 getaway that pairs trending cities with smaller, more destination focused ships such as Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Star and Norwegian Jade.
Baltic Cool In Latvia And Finland

Riga in Latvia is emerging as a Baltic standout, its UNESCO listed centre mixing medieval lanes, striking Art Nouveau facades on Alberta Street, bohemian quarters and leafy parks with a thriving craft beer and makers scene. One of the most port rich options is Norwegian Sun’s 9 day Baltic sailing from Copenhagen to Helsinki on 23 September 2026, calling almost daily at lesser known gems including Warnemünde near Berlin, Gdynia, Klaipeda and Nynäshamn near Stockholm.
Finland steps into the spotlight as a new homeport for the line in 2026, with Helsinki promising Nordic design, harbourfront saunas and easy access to Suomenlinna Fortress plus rooftop bars and markets for a modern city break. From 14 September 2026, Norwegian Sun’s 9 day Baltic itinerary round the region visits nine ports, weaving in Tallinn’s medieval Old Town, the organ sounds of Oliwa Cathedral, the maritime character of Gdańsk and an overnight finale in Copenhagen, complete with Tivoli Gardens and royal palaces. Travellers can stretch their stay with a four day Timeless Finland pre cruise tour, available on selected departures in 2026 and 2027, for extra time in and around Helsinki.
Madeira And The Atlantic Islands
In the eastern Atlantic, Madeira has been crowned Tripadvisor’s number one trending destination for 2026, earning the nickname “Hawaii of Europe” for its volcanic scenery, mild climate and lush mountain landscapes. Norwegian’s calls to Funchal open up cable car rides over the city, wine tasting, cobbled old streets and excursions from 4×4 forest adventures to coastal wildlife watching.
Lisbon also gets more time in the spotlight, with a four day Lisbon cruise tour giving guests the chance to dive deeper into markets, neighbourhoods and local cuisine before joining an extended Mediterranean voyage. Departing Barcelona on 29 October 2026, Norwegian Star’s 11 day Europe itinerary to Lisbon takes in ten ports, from Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter and Casablanca’s central market to Oporto’s UNESCO listed Old Town, along with sunshine filled stops in the Canary Islands.

Vietnam’s Moment In The Sun
Vietnam’s mix of affordability, beaches, culture and food has it firmly on 2026 wish lists, with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang all featured on Norwegian Jade’s festive 11 day Asia sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong departing 23 December 2026. Guests can wander Da Nang’s markets over plates of seafood and noodles, kayak past the limestone towers of Ha Long Bay or head into Hanoi, often called the Paris of Asia, while from Phu My there is the choice of plunging into the energy of Ho Chi Minh City or slipping away to Vung Tau’s beaches. Beyond Vietnam, the itinerary layers in Thai favourites Ko Samui and Bangkok plus an overnight stay in glittering Hong Kong for New Year celebrations with a skyline backdrop.
Island Escapes In The Philippines
For travellers chasing classic tropical escapes with a twist, the Philippines is rising fast with its limestone cliffs, turquoise lagoons, hot springs, coral reefs and one of the world’s most famous beaches, White Beach on Boracay. Norwegian’s Southeast Asia programme brings guests to Boracay, Puerto Princesa and Coron on the 14 day Asia sailing from Hong Kong to Singapore on Norwegian Jade, departing 9 December 2026, a pre Christmas indulgence that also calls at Kota Kinabalu, Ho Chi Minh City, Ko Samui and includes an overnight in Bangkok.
Taipei And Japan By Sea
Taipei is another city to watch in 2026, loved for its mix of hot springs, nearby beaches, temples, night markets and a world class food scene that takes in beef noodle soup, xiao long bao and the original bubble tea. A 9 day Norwegian Jade voyage leaving Tokyo on 30 November 2026 links Taipei with some of Japan’s most atmospheric cities including Kyoto via Osaka, Kochi, Hiroshima and the tropical island of Miyakojima before a full day in Taipei and a finale in Hong Kong.
Deals And Added Value
For those ready to book, Norwegian is running a limited time promotion for bookings made between 19 February and 2 March, with savings of up to $2,500 off cruise fares on selected itineraries.
Guests can also take advantage of the line’s Free at Sea offer, which adds more than $3,250 in value through inclusions such as unlimited premium beverages, specialty dining meals, high speed Wi Fi and shore excursion credits in every port, helping travellers make the most of these trending destinations in 2026.
