Forty-seven community organisations across regional, rural and remote Australia will share $2 million in cash, flights and marketing support through the 2025 Qantas Regional Grants program.
The fifth annual round supports projects spanning healthcare, education, tourism, sustainability, arts and First Nations initiatives. Since the program launched in 2019, more than 150 organisations have received support.
Among the recipients is Queensland’s Gunggandji Aerospace Foundation, which will expand its Raising Horizons program to give First Nations students from regional and remote communities greater access to aviation and aerospace career pathways through mentoring, STEM education and industry experiences.
Country Hope in NSW will receive support to help regional children with cancer and other serious illnesses travel for treatment, while Strait Experience in Queensland will take up to 12 Torres Strait students to tourism industry events and training opportunities.
Other projects include upgrades to the Laura Memorial Civic Centre’s solar and battery system in South Australia, new breakfast club equipment for Jindivick Primary School in Victoria and an expansion of Salted Christmas Island’s reusable cup library in Western Australia.
Derby District High School will receive assistance to help Aboriginal students travel from Derby to Perth for the WA Public Schools Contemporary Music Festival, while Artback NT will use flights to bring arts and cultural experiences to remote Northern Territory communities.
In Tasmania, The Listening Project will establish five peer-led Listening Table groups at a northern school to support connection, empathy and student wellbeing.
Mark Dal Pra, QantasLink Chief Executive Officer, said the grants recognised the contribution local organisations make to communities across regional Australia.
“For more than 105 years Qantas has been part of regional Australia and we’ve seen firsthand the role local organisations play in bringing communities together and supporting people when they need it most,” Mr Dal Pra said.
“We’re proud to support their work and help them continue making a difference in the communities they call home.”
