Cover-More Travel Insurance has further strengthened their support of the travel industry.
The company is stepping up as an ATIA Strategic Partner and Beyond Borders Engagement Partner, as well as NTIA Gold Sponsor.
The move builds on their advocacy with ATIA in favour of continuing the deferred sales model exemption for travel insurance.
The current exemption, which allows travel agents to sell insurance at the point of booking, was due to expire on October 5. Treasury has since proposed extending that exemption for a further five years, to October 5, 2031.
This is a change ATIA and Cover-More both believe is a favourable outcome for members and customers alike, keeping cover available at the moment travellers commit to a trip.
At the Beyond Borders Travel Summit on October 9 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Cover-More steps up as Engagement Partner, bringing a massage station to the Summit floor for delegates to unwind between sessions.
At the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) on October 10 at the Palladium at Crown Melbourne, Cover-More returns as a Gold Sponsor, continuing its support of the industry’s night of nights.
“For 40 years, Cover-More has been a trusted partner to Australia’s travel industry, supporting travel businesses and helping their customers travel with confidence,” said Mike Stein, Cover-More Travel Insurance Executive General Manager, Sales & Distribution.
“We were proud to work alongside ATIA in supporting the extension of the deferred sales model exemption.
“The ability to arrange travel protection when travellers book helps ensure cover can commence as early as possible, reducing the likelihood they delay or forget to purchase insurance.
“It also helps minimise the risk of travellers remaining uninsured or underinsured, particularly when unexpected overseas medical emergencies can result in substantial costs.”
“We greatly appreciate Cover-More’s partnership with ATIA and their investment in the Australian travel industry,” said Dean Long, ATIA CEO.
“Their partnership demonstrates to our members the value they place on the trade, and their commitment to supporting the industry, including standing up for members’ interests when it counts. We know the industry gets behind our partners in recognition of that support.”
