The Walshe Group recently brought together more than 60 employees for a team-wide celebration marking the organisation’s 50th anniversary.

Founded in 1976 by Rodney Walshe, The Walshe Group is one of Australasia’s largest specialist aviation and destination representation companies, representing premium airline and destination brands.

‘Shared Success’ was the theme of the gathering in Fremantle in Western Australia, reflecting on the people, clients, partners, and relationships that have shaped The Walshe Group over five decades.

“Reaching 50 years is an extraordinary milestone, but what makes it particularly meaningful is being able to celebrate it with our people, who, past and present, have always been at the heart of our success,” said Jacqui Walshe, CEO and Managing Director, The Walshe Group.

With almost half of the team having been with the company for more than 10 years, the celebration was also a reflection of the loyalty that has helped shape the business.

It provided an opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look towards the future.

The weekend brought together team members from across The Walshe Group’s international network in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the Philippines, including the entire inbound team from sister company Southern Travelnet (above).

Industry guests joining the event were Mel Johnson, Senior Markets Manager, Domestic, New Zealand & USA, Tourism Western Australia, and Michael Hall, Country Manager, Australia & New Zealand, South African Airways.

Johnson has worked closely with The Walshe Group through its longstanding partnership with Tourism Western Australia, while Hall is a former team member who spent 36 years with the company before transferring to its long-term partner, SAA.

The program included a team treasure hunt through Fremantle, a full day of presentations reflecting on The Walshe Group’s journey and future and two thought-provoking panel discussions exploring the evolving travel industry and the role representation plays.

“This weekend was an opportunity to look back and recognise how far we have come, celebrate where we are today and, most importantly, think about where we want to go next,” said Ms Walshe.

“Bringing together our team members was a powerful reminder that while our business has evolved significantly over 50 years, our success continues to be built on people and the relationships we share.”

The Fremantle celebration forms part of The Walshe Group’s year-long 50th anniversary program, which includes team activities, industry engagement and celebrations with clients and partners.
