Plaza Premium Group have announced a $20 million Australian investment program over the next 24 months to coincide with the group’s 10-year anniversary Down Under.

The program includes a new Sydney domestic lounge, a complete rebuild of its Brisbane International lounge and a new domestic lounge planned for Cairns Airport in early 2027.

The Sydney opening will coincide with the completion of Sydney Airport’s $200 million T2 redevelopment.

With the new domestic lounge, PPG will operate six airport hospitality products at Sydney Airport, making it the group’s largest airport presence in Australia.

The lounge will be the first independent, non-airline-operated lounge in Sydney Airport’s domestic precinct, available to departing passengers regardless of airline, ticket class or frequent flyer status.

“A decade ago, we introduced our independent lounge concept to Australia with a vision to make premium airport hospitality accessible to all travellers,” said Mei Mei Song, Plaza Premium Group Chief Transformation Officer.

“Australia has become one of our most important growth markets globally, and this $20 million investment reaffirms our long-term commitment to the region.

“The new Sydney lounge will provide a welcoming space for travellers to work, relax, refresh and recharge, making a premium airport experience an easy part of domestic travel.”

Located beyond security in T2 Domestic, the lounge (ab0ve) will feature contemporary design, quiet workspaces, high-speed connectivity, locally inspired food and beverage offerings, barista coffee and a full-service bar.

It will be available to departing T2 passengers through advance bookings or walk-in access.

“This new pay-per-use lounge gives travellers greater flexibility and convenience, whether they’re travelling for business or leisure, while reinforcing our commitment to offering premium experiences across the airport,” said Mark Zaouk, Sydney Airport Group Executive Commercial.

The Sydney opening follows the launch of Plaza Premium Lounge Adelaide Domestic in November 2025, Australia’s first independent domestic airport lounge.

With Cairns to follow in early 2027, PPG is extending independent lounge access across Australia’s domestic aviation network.

The expansion follows significant industry recognition, with PPG named World’s Best Airport Lounge Group at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, while Plaza Premium Lounge Adelaide received the title of Oceania’s Leading Airport Lounge at the 2026 World Travel Awards.

The $20 million investment programme also includes a complete rebuild and redesign of PPG’s Brisbane International lounge (below), reinforcing its presence at the airport where it first entered Australia in 2016.

The upgrade comes as Brisbane Airport prepares for rising international travel demand and the arrival of visitors for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Its wider $5 billion-plus transformation programme aims to improve capacity and the passenger experience as Brisbane grows as an international gateway.

Globally, PPG now operates across 600 airports in 150 countries, serving approximately 30 million passengers annually.

“Whether it is a business traveller needing a quiet hour to work, a family heading on holiday, or a solo traveller wanting a comfortable space to relax, we are making a premium airport experience a normal, easy part of domestic travel,” said Cyrus Wong, General Manager, Oceania at Plaza Premium Group.

Mr Wong said both Western Sydney International and Perth airports remained firmly on PPG’s radar for potential lounges in the future.
