TSA officers at Seattle Tacoma International Airport got an X-ray image they won’t forget in a hurry: three blades that looked like they belonged in a superhero showdown.
The claw-like item was spotted in a passenger’s carry on by TSA officer Douglas Linn. The agency later described it as a cross between Wolverine’s claws and Freddy Krueger’s blades. The discovery was made in August, but TSA shared the story this week.
Linn and fellow officer Dennis Oishi searched the bag. When asked if there was anything sharp inside, the passenger reportedly said he wasn’t sure, then remembered the claws when they were pulled out.
The passenger voluntarily left them at the checkpoint.
TSA took the opportunity to share a reminder with a suitably sharp edge: mutant blades belong in checked baggage. That could save travellers from losing their claws just as their next adventure is about to begin.
Not a Marvel-ous idea in your carry-on bag. Adamantium-tally our SEA officers were amazed to see this image roll across their X-ray screen. Please pack all mutant blades in a checked bag. https://t.co/NrjQIXinbz
