Australian travel industry professionals and tourism representatives from Uganda have come together for a business-to-business networking programme and roadshow.
The initiative was aimed to strengthen industry relationships, build awareness of Uganda as a tourism destination and showcase the country’s diverse experiences to the Australian market through networking, destination presentations and opportunities for industry collaboration.
Led by Ambassador Dorothy Samali Hyuha, High Commissioner of Uganda to Australia, the programme welcomed representatives from the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Ugandan tourism operators Let’s Go Travel and Muafrika Experience.
Senator Paul Scarr, Liberal National Party Senator for Queensland, also attended the evening roadshow held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The daytime B2B programme provided an opportunity for members of the Ugandan delegation to meet with Australian travel professionals, exchange destination knowledge and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Companies involved across the programme included Adventure World, African Travel Specialists, MW Tours, Luxury Escapes, The Travel Corporation (TTC), The Africa Safari Co., Encircle Africa, Alkebulan Safari, South African Airways and Qatar Airways.
Their participation helped strengthen industry connections and highlight opportunities to incorporate Uganda’s tourism offerings into Australian travel itineraries.
The evening programme brought together industry representatives for destination presentations and networking, complemented by Ugandan-inspired cuisine and cultural performances by The Cultural Dance Crew.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of two winners of places on the 2027 Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) Uganda familiarisation trip.
Robert Fletcher of Flight Centre and Gail Hughes of TravelManagers were the successful recipients, offering an opportunity to experience Uganda’s tourism offerings first hand.
“Strengthening our relationships with Australian travel industry partners is essential to showcasing Uganda’s extraordinary wildlife, breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage,” said Ambassador Hyuha (above).
“We look forward to building on these connections, establishing meaningful and lasting partnerships, and inspiring more Australian travellers to discover the unforgettable experiences that await them in Uganda – the Pearl of Africa.
“Together, we can create new opportunities, strengthen tourism cooperation and build a lasting bridge between Uganda and Australia.”
The Brisbane roadshow reflects the Uganda High Commission’s continued commitment to strengthening relationships with the Australian travel trade and increasing awareness of Uganda as a tourism destination.
